4biddeford electric blanket--- very good  May 06, 2007
By wolfeye
this is an excellent product, especially after having another brand that quit on us all the time! only complaint regarding our Biddeford is that very difficult to "read" if any light on; and the "E" popped up a couple times that was easily overridden (a false reading we assume).

5A great electric blanket  Nov 02, 2009
By Come About
I have owned the twin size for almost a year now, and it is the best electric blanket I have had in a long time. I sleep with it turned on for about 50 weeks out of the year, so it has gotten a lot of use. I have a dust mite allergy and have to wash my blankets every two weeks. I wash this blanket once a month so I don't wear it out and it has held up twice as long as electric blankets I've had in the past. Also, this is the "old fashioned" type of electric blanket, not one of the room temperature sensing ones (not hot enough for me). It gets HOT, so there is no need for a blanket on top of it. I have never slept with it at a higher setting than 3, although I set it higher to warm my bed. The fabric is thick for an electric blanket and has held up perfectly through many washings. I have not noticed too much static, even though I do not use much fabric softener. Our house is not dry, so more sofener may be needed if it is used in low humidity. I have never had any problem resetting the auto off; I just power it right back up, or cycle it off and back on to keep it from automatically turning off before I get up. The cord attachment is symmetrical so it is easy to plug in.

There is one design flaw with the controller that I have found and it is the only negative about this blanket. I sleep in a very dark room, so maybe this isn't a problem for others who have more light in their bedroom. The controller has three buttons. One is a large one for power on/off, and there are two smaller ones for hotter/cooler. Normally controllers have a temp control dial. To adjust the temperature in the dark (half asleep), you have to feel for first the two small buttons, then figure out which one you need to push - the UP (right) one or the DOWN (left) one. The controller unit LOOKS nice with the buttons, but the design needs to be changed to a dial system.

2Too hot for its own good  Jan 22, 2007
By C. Peng "Chamucos"
This thing works very well when it's functional. But about a month after i bought it, it shorted itself out. The wires connecting the controller with the blanket and the electrical outlet are too long and too flimsy. But bigger wires would make the product even more unwieldy.
