Good Quality.....But Jan 15, 2008
By OvertheCheese I have now had the opportunity to purchase both - Scent-sation Satin Alternatives (Rose) Scent-Sation Satin Alternatives California King Sheet Set, Rose and Scent-sation Satin 300 ct. (Blush) satin sheet sets. I purchased the Alternatives first (higher price point) and loved them. My second purchase was the 300 ct (trying to save a buck). If you are considering doing the same & using my same rationale.....don't. The less expensive 300 ct. feels less expensive. The sheet is thinner, doesn't breathe as well, and feels somewhat scratchier & stiffer; while the Satin Alternatives line feels luxurious, substantial, silky smooth, pliable and heavenly. The 300 ct. top sheet also did not tuck in on either the sides or at the foot of the mattress the way the Satin Alternatives set did.
So if you are deciding between the two - choose the Satin Alternatives. Except for the pink color choices, at this time, the cost to purchase the other color choices is about the same; but IMO, the quality of one is better than the other.

visually outstanding; function so-so Mar 04, 2008
By Ed Okie Visually the satin sheets are outstanding. Stunning is an applicable word. But when it comes to use-function... the inherent "slickness" is problematic and annoying. They slip and slide all over the place (fitted bottom sheet is fine since it is "locked onto" the mattress). But the loose top sheet is the problem-child... only in place when the bed is first made, never in place during or after a night's sleep, becomes worse each succeeding night if the sheets aren't completely realigned and positioned from scratch.
Would I buy them again? Despite the apparent quality and sensory feel, no I wouldn't. Great to impress guests... or the mistress... but not for daily use.

Great sheets! Apr 04, 2007
By T. Orth These sheets are absolutely great! They are very generously sized, so they fit very comfortably on our California-King mattress. They are also extremely soft.

Good Buy Oct 30, 2008
By Maureen Bigler I bought these satin sheets on a half price sale and they're worth every penny. The only reason I gave them four stars vs. five stars is because they are easy to snag. With the 300 thread count weave, they remind me more of silk sheets then satin.
The sheets are for my eighty year old mom. She was having a difficult time moving around on her bed in her flannel PJs so a 'slip n slide' (her terminology) was the answer.

Better than the 1980's Satin Sheets, still not great though. Apr 11, 2008
By K. Varraso Back in the 1980's, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and no one had Tivo, we were given a set of satin sheets as a wedding present. Mom put them on our bed in our first apartment for when we returned from the honeymoon, and it's the last time we ever used the wretched things. Besides feeling hot, they were so slippery that I ended up on the floor and by morning were covered with snags from his toenails (ewww).
Now in 2008, when even six year olds have cell phones, I bought a set of these by mistake after not having read the Amazon listing well enough. Figuring that I could give the husband a laugh, I put them on the bed, but kept a set of tried and true percale on the dresser in case of midnight sliding accidents. Apparently, the "Scentsation" (why it's named that I'll never know - mine smelled like regular sheets, thank goodness) sheet scientists have worked out the kinks that made old satin sheets so wretched. These sheets weren't hot, although I wouldn't want to use them in mid-summer without air conditioning. The other 1980's problems were also gone, and the quality of the material was much, much better.
I can't say that I prefer these sheets to a nice, crisp percale Egyptian cotton sheet, but they were worlds better than I had expected. They are now in rotation with the other sets of sheets and have been laundered and used a half dozen times. They show no signs of wear, look new, and are about as comfortable as when they arrived, unlike cotton which becomes more comfortable with each washing. The pillowcases feel especially nice and keep my long hair from tangling. If I could buy the pillowcases separately, I would.
If you like the look of a satin sheet, these are a good value for the money. If you want a set of sheets that will last for years and will feel nicer every time you use it, Pinzon 300-Thread-Count Brushed Egyptian Cotton Percale Queen Sheet Set, Navy, these ones aren't half bad; or you can go to Amazon's partner, Land's End and get their percale sheets, which are expensive but second to none.
