First, I ordered the dual control but was sent this. That is the first mistake in dozens of Amazon ordres over the years, and they immediately credited me with the $10 difference. They would have replaced it at their expense, but I'm quite happy with this one.
I live in Zone 5, keep the bedroom thermostat at 50*F, and sleep with the window open 1-2" all winter. I recently splurged on a Tempurpedic mattress, which I LOVE, but it absorbs the room air so it was very COLD when I got into bed, and it took nearly an hour to warm up. I was miserable but didn't want to trade it for a regular mattress, so I bought this. OMG, it's the next best thing to a tropical vacation! I turn it on #5 about 15 minutes before bed and then turn it off or down to #1. This also heats up the bedcovers, so you're enveloped in warmth. Lovely. Even when I'm too tired to trudge upstairs to prewarm, it only takes ~5 minutes to take the chill off. I also put my pillows under the covers (on the other half of the bed--they prevent the top sheet from getting warm) so that my head and neck are warm too. I like to be toasty but hate a hot room (obviously!) so this is the perfect, amazing, wonderful solution. Between this and the fabulous Tempurpedic, I sleep so well now!

OMG! This is the best thing i have ever purchased for my bed. I am always cold - especially when i go to bed and it can take me hours to warm up. i cant sleep til i'm warm so you can imagine how frustrating it is to be cold when i get into bed. This mattress pad is the answer. Actually, i bought the queen size for myself and the twin for my dad. The queen has dual controls so i can have mine on and my husband's side can be off. It is awesome. i turn it on 20 - 30 minutes before i get into bed and when i get in, the sheets are all warm and i am warm within 15 minutes. Once warm, i turn it off and sleep great. No more laying in bed waiting to get warm. Buy this item. Sleep better and warmer.

This product is amazing! We turn it on for about 30 minutes before going to bed (and turn it off when get into bed). The warmth from the mattress pad is incredible, especially by our feet. Makes the bed so cozy and easy to get into. Highly recommended!

I bought this mattress pad to replace the worn out one that my 79 year old mother uses.
She loves it! She said it is so nice, it really warms up her feet and legs and her upper body stays cooler. She has arthritis in the knees and hips, and her feet get cold so she uses the heated mattress pad year round. She said it is warm right where she needs it.
She says, "it's a keeper!"

First of all, five starts for Amazon's customer service. Not a surprise: I have been spoiled over the years by Amazon, but it never hurts to repeat. The first item delivered was defective. Half of the bed was not heated. So, Amazon promptly delivered another bed warmer (without waiting for me to return the old one-yay!), which works like it's supposed to-which means, not so great. It warms the bed, but it takes a long time even at the highest setting, so if you forget to turn it on at least one hour before bed, your bed will be quite cool. I bought a bed warmer because I want to slip into a *warm* bed, not a bed that's only marginally warmer than my cold bedroom. However, for the price and the added convenience of its being machine washable, this product will do the trick, and without adding much to your electricity bill.
