Pinzon Fleur Jacquard Egyptian Cotton Sateen Queen Bed Skirt, French Blue/Chocolate

Pinzon's Fleur Jacquard Egyptian cotton sateen bed skirt is an elegant base for any bed. Expertly made in Portugal from 100-percent Egyptian cotton single-ply yarns in a sateen weave, the bed skirt features a Chocolate underlay shining through the French Blue and creating a slight brindle effect. The bed skirt is a coordinating accessory to the Fleur Jacquard bedding collection, but can stand on its on to mix or match with many bedding sets and decors. Finished with decorative side pleats, the Fleur Jacquard bed skirt is offered in a choice of colors and sizes. The queen bed skirt measures 60 by 80 inches with a 16-inch drop, and it is safe to clean at home in the washer and dryer.

The Fabric
Egyptian Cotton: Egyptian cotton is used to make some of the highest quality linens in the world, including sumptuously soft bath and bed linens. Egyptian cotton is grown to produce a longer staple, or fiber, than generic cotton, and the longer and finer a cotton staple is, the better able it is to be spun into finer count yarns, which in turn can be knitted or woven into soft, fine, and luxurious fabrics. The staple length in Egyptian cotton averages 1-1/8 to 1-1/2 inches, but can reach over 2-1/4 inches, which is twice the size of a generic cotton fiber. Products which highlight construction of Egyptian cotton are usually referring to the extra-long-staple cotton produced largely in the Nile River Valley. The humidity and rich soil around the Nile delta produce especially long cotton fibers, which are fine and vary from a light cream to dark tan color. Egyptian cotton is strong, durable and, if cared for properly, will be long lasting.

Sateen: Sateen fabric has a supremely soft, satin-like finish resulting from a four-over-one thread weave. Standard weaves, like percale, use a one-over, one-under stitch. The four-over weave puts more threads nearer the surface, resulting in a softer, warmer surface. Sateen fabrics are most often made of mercerized cotton, but can be made of other fabrics, including cotton blends, polyester, and rayon. Mercerized threads give sateen fabrics a higher luster. Mercerization, named for process-creator John Mercer, involves treating threads with a cold concentrated sodium hydroxide solution. Mercerization also increases strength, dyeability, and resistance to mildew, as well as reduces lint. Sateens can be produced in light and heavy weights, and are ideal for bedding.

5beautiful product  Mar 28, 2011
By A. Larson
I purchased the whole set of Pinon Fleur Jacquard comforter cover, bed skirt, and pillow shams on the basis of the positive reviews it had received on Amazon, and I have not been disappointed. The fabric has a lovely sheen to it, the colors work well, not too busy but interesting, and most importantly, I have two dogs who love to lounge on the bed and they have not been able to harm the fabric. Also, the subtle print of the comforter cover keeps any dirt or hair they might inadvertently bring invisible. The only downside to the whole set is when you wash them be prepared to iron them. Once ironed out of the wash, though, they hold up beautifully against wrinkles.

4Great bedskirt  Oct 21, 2010

We bought the Cal King size. It's a good bedskirt for the price. It requires some ironing when it comes out of the package, but looks quite nice after bring ironed. I would recommend it.

2permanent wrinkles and too large  Mar 06, 2011
By davidonparis
I bought the duvet, the shams, bedskirt, accent pillows; the whole nine yards! Love the duvet, but this bedskirt is much to large (guessing it is CA King measurements)and after ironing twice, then steaming AND throwing in the dryer on perm press the wrinkles it was delivered with are still there. Had to return because it just looked so bad. Really disappointed.

5Like a five star hotel  Dec 27, 2011

Outstanding quality and workmanship! This launders beautifully with minimal ironing and drapes perfectly hiding the bed frame and wheels. I love it!

1Don't buy this!  Oct 06, 2011
By Sunnyside
I bought this bedskirt close to a year ago, and ordered a queen. I couldn't figure out why it was so big - and I recently decided to purchase another bedskirt so I went back into this order to see what "drop" I purchased (thinking that was the problem)and it says I ordered a king size, which I did not! I saw the other review about it being to big as well, and I think this seller is either changing the orders, or they only sell king sizes. I wouldn't care as much if it was not so expensive. I also think it's not worth the money.
