Set your alarm Mar 04, 2008

How good is it?? I actually had trouble prying myself out of bed the next morning it was so comfy. I was actually contemplating buying a new bed before I decided to try out this mattress pad. I'm glad I did because it saved me a few hundred dollars. Its like I have a whole new bed. Its ultra comfortable and plush. It fits my 16" mattress with no problems and I don't have to worry about it shifting. The fabric even keeps your sheets from getting cold which is a great plus in the winter. All in all a great buy.

Great purchase Jan 09, 2008
By Heather Very happy with the Pike Street overfilled ultra soft mattress pad. Plush, perfect amount of fill - much more than I thought! The top is microplush - so soft. Fits the mattress perfectly and stays in place. Highly recommended and the price is perfect.

Super Comfy, Beware Washing Mar 09, 2008
By Readerly As others have mentioned, this mattress pad is very comfortable. I haven't had any problems with slipping - it fits my mattress perfectly.
The only issue is washing it - it is HUGE because it's so fluffy, and I learned the hard way I have to set the water level in the washer to low or it floods because it's so large and doesn't absorb a lot. Once you know that, however, it's really a gem of a product.

Best $45 we've ever spent Feb 11, 2009
By L. A. Ward, Jr. Our extra-firm mattress was purchased years ago when back issues dictated such a change. Once those issues were resolved, the extra-firm mattress created new problems with stiff shoulder joints. Arthritis is probably setting in. Rather than spend a huge amount of money on new bedding, we chose to try this very highly rated mattress pad. As the heading says, this is absolutely the best $45 we've ever spent. No issues with slipping or stitching or "too hot". Just luxurious comfort each and every night. I smile a little every time I roll over and can't believe what a simple fix this was. If you have a similar situation, don't delay another minute in ordering this fabulous product.

Amazingly soft, but difficult to wash May 24, 2008

We have a standard queen-size mattress, and this pad fits it perfectly -- it reaches the edge of the mattress all the way around. The skirt is made of stretchy polyester jersey and will fit extra-deep mattresses. The material on top is a low-pile fuzzy velveteen, and the plush part that covers the mattress is about 1.5" thick. It's a super soft pad that will make you not want to put sheets over it!
My husband says he notices a huge difference in the bed now, and that it feels like lying on a pillow. Personally, I notice the plushness only for the first few seconds after I lie down. As many of the other reviewers have stated, we can sometimes feel the seams "poking out" a little: when one plush square slides just a few millimeters over an adjacent square, it creates a hard wrinkle over the seam.
The only problem with this mattress pad -- and unfortunately it's a big problem for us -- has been washing it. I'm allergic to dust/dustmites, so we wash our mattress pad every time we wash our sheets. It took both my husband and me to cram the thing into the washer, but we eventually got it to fit; surprisingly, it washed just fine. Then we pummelled it into our standard-capacity dryer, where it was so big that it didn't actually tumble. This resulted in two tan-colored burn spots from where the pad stayed stuck against the barrel. Needless to say, we'll have to find another means of drying it.
If you ordered a king size pad and wanted to wash it, you'd have to have a super-capacity washer/dryer, or else take it to the laundromat. Or just not wash it at all. I'm not trying to bash this mattress pad by any means; I was honestly surprised that no one else had commented on how difficult it is to clean.
** Update, Aug. 11, 2008: I have found that the best means of drying this mattress pad is to hang it over/across two large pop-up drying racks in the laundry room. My husband or I will wash it, hang it up, and then turn the ceiling fan on high for extra air circulation. Despite the plushness of the pad, the whole thing dries rather quickly (3-4 hours). I would now rate this mattress pad 4 stars. Why not 5? Still difficult to get in the washer, still has hard "poking" seams once in a while. Otherwise a nice, soft pad, and worth the money!
** Update, May 19, 2011: Washing this mattress pad was still such a chore that, a few weeks ago, I said, "To heck with this!" and donated it to Goodwill. We gave it over three years of solid use but decided that enough was enough because of several factors (first, washing this overstuffed pad was still burdensome and time-consuming; second, I recently started grad school, thus severely limiting my time; and, last, we recently got a memory foam mattress). All of these factors combined left us with virtually no reason to continue tolerating what, for us, was an extremely high-maintenance mattress pad. We ended up purchasing a basic, no-nonsense organic mattress pad from a local retailer, and we're doing fine with that. So now what would I rate this pad? Two stars. I'm sorry for the low rating, but I hope this information helps someone. Good luck!
