Nice while it worked, then the HELL began Feb 01, 2006

When I first got this product I loved it. Unfortunately my unit failed and one of the controllers quit. I gave it 2 stars because while it worked I did like the warmth. Unfortunately, like the other reviewer wrote, the manufacturer will not even return my calls.
This product is made by Perfect Fit Industries. I have been calling them and emailing them for a while now. They simply refuse to communicate with me. When I call I get an answering machine. When I email I get an automated reply. The net result is a complete blowoff.
I guess that is one way to keep warranty costs down on a failure prone product.
If you buy this product you are on your own. If it fails you are out of luck. If you don't belive me try calling their support number at 800-299-1378 and pretend you have a warranty claim. If they respond go ahead and buy it. They won't.

same as others Mar 21, 2006
By J. Norton Same with me. After only four months one of the controllers failed. Before that there were problems. The connector(s) are at the top of the mattress and are not very robust so they come disconnected frequently. This is annoying. It gets worse. The connectors get quite warm. Warm enough to leave a burn. My spouse untucked the mattress pad while tossing and turning and was burned enough to blister on both shoulders by the time he woke up the next morning. Our mattress is maybe ten or twelve inches deep, so another defect is the mattress pad is not designed to fit anything even that deep very well.
Five year warranty my ass. I did like it while it lasted. Kmart better give me a refund so I can buy another brand.
Update: Kmart won't give a refund because it's been over ninety days. So, I paid $89.99 for a mattress warming pad that worked for only four months. This brand says Safe and Warm on the literature and on the controller knobs. Buyer beware.
3 April 2006 update:
I called Perfect Fit Industry's product safety number 877-882-9478. I found it on a web search because they had a previous recall. They called me right back and offered a replacement. It arrived in a week. I talked to a Wanda Phillips. She gave me her number 800-299-1378 (menu option #2). She said that the power supply and the controllers have been revised. She reassured me that should I have a future problem, the five year warranty is still in effect. I find that the connectors are a bit bigger also and tugged on them and they didn't pull out. It gets better. The new connectors get only slightly warm to the touch. I've had the mattress back in use for two days. It is a really nice product when it works. We'll see how long this one lasts. I would rate it as a serious product again. The new warming mattress pad has the words Safe & Warm Technology printed above the controller knobs, rather than on the knob as the previous warming pad did. The knobs are a powder blue or grey-blue color.
I'd like to give it a few more stars again, but apparently you can't do that when you edit the same review.

Nice for the price! Dec 14, 2005
By Linda Glenn I ordered this heated mattress pad, because I live in a very old and drafty house. I needed something to warm the bed BEFORE I got into it. This pad was reasonably priced and I thought it was a good buy. However, you have to remember to turn the pad on before you get into bed! And then it takes a little while to warm up, so getting into bed is still a chilly experience. The item description did not mention that this pad turns itself off at random intervals. Maybe this particular pad was defective, but I can't seem to get a replacement or a reply from the company to find out if this is normal. All in all, the pad works reasonably well for the money, as long as you remember to turn it on a half hour before bedtime.

Pad doesn't heat if room temp 72 degrees Dec 31, 2005
By appyface I bought this pad specifically to replace an expensive, and really nice pad (that heats great but shuts off at random intervals. It is supposed to wait 10 hours, but it rarely does).
This Lifetime pad also has a 10-hour shutoff feature, which was not documented in the online product description. I found it in the instruction manual. I would not have bought this pad had I known it has an auto-shutoff feature, as I did not want that.
I am also unable to get this pad to heat at all. The instruction manual states that the pad will not heat if the room temp is 72 degrees or above. My room is 74 degrees and the pad will not heat. This also was not in the online product description. Had I known this I would not have bought this pad.
This pad was a complete waste of money for me. I don't recommend it. Unless you don't mind the shutoff feature and have a room much cooler than 72 degrees so it might heat up for you.

Heated Mattress Pad Apr 27, 2006
By George B. I wasn't sure if I had a problem or not with this mattress pad, but it seemed like it was not working properly. When I did some research and read these reviews on Amazon I became concerned. I called the company, they were nice on the phone, they offered to send me two brand new controllers, exactly like the ones I had. During the following days before the new controllers arrived, I became convinced that in fact everything was working fine. The two new controllers arrived and I simply returned them to the company. We are still happy with the pad, and our experience with the company was very favorable, and that is why I felt I should add this comment to the others.
