Not What I Expected Dec 07, 2009

UPDATE 4/27/2012: I have noticed that the price of this comforter has dropped considerably since I purchased it three years ago, and that is as it should be. I paid $169.99 for it and at the time of this update it costs only $74.99 - less than half of the original cost. It is a better deal than it was before, but I still don't think that the quality justifies more than $50.00. My original two star rating still stands. I hope the seller reconsiders the value of this item and drops the price to a level that more accurately reflects the quality.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is a nice enough bed cover, but it is NOT comparable to down. There is no softness and lightweight warmth; no puffy, high volume fill. Just heavy coverlet filled with common polyester batting. It is warm enough, but not a down alternative at all. Truly luxurious down alternative comforters exist - I have seen them in high end hotels and B&Bs. However, this comforter does not come close, and I think it is false to advertise that it is a viable alternative to down.
One thing that is extremely disappointing about the comforter is that the outer shell fabric is kind of cheap feeling. It is a synthetic fabric that holds a lot of static electricity and debris tends to cling to it. It also developing unattractive fabric "pills" and snags that make it look worn and dirty, even though I have babied it and keep it inside a duvet cover so that it has never been exposed to much wear and never needed to be washed. Since I keep it inside a very nice duvet cover, these details don't matter much, but for the price I paid, it really shouldn't be wearing out this way. Every time I change the bed linens, I get so annoyed at how ugly and frayed this almost new comforter is.
I won't send it back, since shipping both ways is expensive, and I don't want to start over, but I cannot give this a good review because it is not as advertised. Next time, I will look to find something locally that I can touch and feel before purchasing.

Pretty much what I expected Jan 24, 2010
By Army Not as warm as most heavy down blankets that I have had in the past, but it also isn't as bulky and awkward either. Does a decent job of keeping you comfortable and not over priced at all. Being that allergies are a problem in my house, the lack of down feathers is great. No more itching or sneezing, and getting poked in the night by sharp feather tips that I would later find all over the bedroom. This is a down alternative so the batting inside keeps the allergens low. Also it feels pretty close to a down blanket. Well put together and a very good product for the money. In fact, I liked it so much I just purchased a second one for the guest room.

By wearethesame890 This product arrived promptly and without damage, stains or markings. It was reasonably priced and is very comfortable. I would recommend this product as well and buy from this seller again. When it comes to households and everyday nessecaties I like my purchases to be worth while and live up to what is advertised. This product was what i wanted and needed and fulfilled its objective.
